Cats premiership player joins Bloods

TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers had a 17 point loss, going down 11.9.75 to 8.10.58 against the undefeated North Warrnambool at Mortlake’s DC Farran Oval on Saturday.

The match was tight for most of the day.

Scores were level at half-time before North Warrnambool took a slim two-point lead at the three-quarter break.

The Bloods had their chances in the last quarter, kicking one goal five behinds to the Eagles’ four goals two which saw the visitors finish ahead.

Terang Mortlake unveiled two senior debutantes in the match.

Ruckman Trent West, who played 70 AFL matches for Geelong and Brisbane, including being a part of Geelong’s 2011 premiership, played in Bloods colours for the first time, with the 37 year-old set to be a regular in the Terang Mortlake lineup for the rest of the season.

Under 16 player Mason Barr played at senior level for the first time after dominating in the junior ranks so far in 2025.

Barr has kicked 40 goals in eight under 16 games in addition to nine goals in four under 18 games.

Jack Fowler, Sam Crawley and Harvey Roberts were best for Terang Mortlake, with Rhys Buck the Bloods only multiple goal kicker with three.

Terang Mortlake was too strong in the reserves, scoring an 11.13.79 to 4.2.26 win.

Ryan Tanner led Terang Mortlake’s goal kickers with four majors.

Best for the Bloods were Tom Arundell, Bayley Primrose and Jehrin Bateman.

Terang Mortlake also got the win in the under 18s, 5.11.41 to 3.4.22.

Darcy Abbott kicked two goals, while Max Heffernan, Tayte McMaster and Zavier Fowler were the best for the under 18 Bloods.

Terang Mortlake had an 18 point win in the under 16s, 8.11.59 to 6.5.41.

Mason Barr, fresh off his senior debut the day before, kicked two goals.

Best for the Bloods were Jobe Baker, Cameron Goddard and Zavier Fowler.

North Warrnambool had a 20 point win in the under 14 game, 6.11.47 to 3.9.27.

Liam Kenna, Paddy Meade and Rupert Vaughan were the best players for Terang Mortlake.

North Warrnambool took the points in the under 12s, 9.11.65 to 0.1.1.

Jackson Irving, Leo Slater and Maximus Timms were best for the junior Bloods.

In the Open netball, Terang Mortlake scored a 58-47 win.

Goal attack Jacqui Arundell top scored with 27 goals, while goal shooter Eboni Knights returned to the team and scored 25.

That pair were named in the best for Terang Mortlake alongside Emma Lucas.

The division one netball saw Terang Mortlake win 44-37.

Mahni Johnstone, Isabelle Kenna and Lyla Grundy were best for the Bloods, with Grundy scoring 37 goals.

North Warrnambool got the points in the division two game with a 47-25 win.

Best for the Bloods were Holly Fowler, Ellen-Rose Lee and Ashleigh Hunger.

The division three game ended in a 29-29 draw.

Emma Keogh scored 16 goals for Terang Mortlake with Ava Nolan scoring 13.

Bella Chow, Olivia O’Brien and Hanna Delaney were named best for the Bloods.

It was a 48-35 win to Terang Mortlake in the 17 and under netball.

Lyla Grundy top scored with 30 goals in a best on court performance, while Lara Clarke scored 18 goals.

Lila Bennett was named alongside Grundy and Clarke as best for the Bloods.

The 17 and under reserves netball saw a 22-14 win for North Warrnambool.

Maddison Wallace, Isla Primrose and Emma Hill were best for the Bloods, Primrose shooting 12 goals.

Terang Mortlake took out the 15 and under netball 46-17.

Hope Kenna, Madelyn Clarke and Sadie Baker were best for the under 15 Bloods, Clarke scoring 32 goals and Baker 14.

Terang Mortlake had a 19-14 win in the 15 and under reserves.

Sommer Jones, Lucia Clarke and Chloe Bouchier were best for the Bloods, Bouchier top scoring with 18 goals.

North Warrnambool won the 13 and under game 34-23.

Poppy Moloney top scored for Terang Mortlake with 10 goals and was named in the best players along with Imogen Barr and Tilly Harrison.

Terang Mortlake had a come from behind win in the 13 and under reserves, 14-13 the final score.

Mary Heffernan, Charli Jones and Francesca Rickard were best for the Bloods, with Isabella Robertson scoring eight goals and Jones six.
