What started as a gloomy, overcast day ended in a sea of red celebration as Bullen Merri upheld the coveted shield.
The day’s activities included single events, relays and novelty activities.
Acting principal Sue Maskell said the day was full of fun.
“We had a great level of participation from students, including eager new year seven students on just their fourth day at secondary school,” she said.
“Highlights of the day always include the novelty races and events including the biggest bomb, a cork scramble and the students versus staff relay which I’m sure involved more interference and obstacles than ever in the teacher’s lane this year.”
The more serious swimmers took part in the formal events, eager to reach the next level of competition – the upcoming zone swimming sports in Timboon later this term.
“We’re particularly proud of our 2023 sports house captains for which this was their first event,” Ms Maskell said.
“They all got in to the spirit of the day and were cheering loudly at every opportunity.”
