Bowlers celebrate successful season

CAMPERDOWN Golf Mag-pies Bowling Club held its presentation night last Friday night.

The evening capped off a successful season for the Magpies, both on and off the green.

The club’s division four (3) team took out a premiership while the club continued to grow its membership base, with many new young bowlers taking on the game.

The Max Johnson Perpetual Trophy for Best Club Person was last week presented to Janet Molan for her tireless work as ladies’ captain and team manager of the premiership team (just to name a few jobs she performs around the club).

The ladies’ singles champion was Barb Boyd and runner-up Ro Dunstan.

Th men’s singles champion was John Molan, with Kevin Conheady the runner-up.

Ladies pairs champions were Rene Gyles and Barb Boyd; runners-up Janet Molan and Norma Weller.

Men’s pairs champions were Craig Skene and Chris McLeod; runners-up Michael Mahony and James Henry.

Mixed pairs champions – Janet and John Molan; runners-up Noelene Tolland and John O’Donohue.

Ladies’ B grade champion – Kell Edwards; runner-up Marg Stephens.

Men’s B grade champion – Jamie Norton; runner-up Peter Reilly.

Ladies’ presidents handicap – Noelene Tolland; runner-up Ilma Daws.

Men’s presidents handicap – Greg Edwards; runner-up Paul Richards.

Ladies 100 up – Noelene Tolland; runner-up Elaine Waterfall.

Men’s 100 up - Jack Paasse; runner-up Michael Brebner.

Awards were also presented to Isaac Winsall who was runner-up in the CBA Novice singles and Greg Teal and Kell Edwards for their achievements in the CBA Novice singles.

After the presentations, music was supplied by Bidge Boyd.

President Steve Lucas reminded all members that the club’s annual meeting will be held on Monday, May 8 at the clubhouse.
