The Open netball saw Terang Mortlake score a 49-46 win.

The Bombers led at quarter time by two goals and by the same margin at the main break.

The Bloods took charge in the third term, shooting 13 goals to six.

“We started quite slowly in the first quarter, and I thought that probably gave Terang a bit of belief in what they were doing and what they were setting, and they were managing to execute a bit better than we were in the first half despite us being up at half-time,” Cobden coach Nadine McNamara said.

“At three-quarter time we made a couple of changes, we had a couple of players that needed to rest who were managing injuries.

“I thought Terang Mortlake also lifted their intensity, and we just didn’t match it; in attack we were a bit lazy with our ball usage and probably weren’t deliberate with what we were trying to create and Terang Mortlake really capitalised off those turnovers.”

Best for Cobden in the loss was Emily Finch, who shot 27 goals, while Jaymie Finch shot 17.

“Emily was really dominant at goal shooter, she was really accurate and after having a season off, she’s really building back into the Emily that we know, and so we’re really impressed with what she was able to do at goal shooter.”

Sophie Blain and Grace Taylor were also in the best for the Bombers.

“Sophie played across our mid-court and wing attack and centre, she’s really creative out the front and gives easy access and delivery to our goalers, so we’re really impressed with the supply that she was giving.

“Grace played across the mid-court and then popped into goals for us when we needed to cover Jaymie Finch for a little bit, Grace has been pretty consistent for us.”

McNamara is looking forward to heading to Hamilton this week to take on the fifth-placed Kangaroos.

“Hamilton look like they’ve got a bit of a combination of some players from their division one side from last year and some juniors, but they seem to be combining really well, they’ve been scoring really high volumes.

“I think for us, the focus is going to be on full defensive court pressure, I felt like that was lacklustre on the weekend, that’s going to be a really big goal for us and probably our ball speed across the top of our goal circle to try and open up our goals a little better as well.”

The division one netball game saw Cobden have a 31-24 win.

Macey Hicks, Jessica Walsh and Jessica Bouchier were best for Cobden in the win, with Bouchier shooting a match high 26 goals.

Cobden also got the points with a 32-28 win in the division two game.

Ruby Suhan, Emily Hickey and Ashlee Merrett were best for the division two Bombers, with Steph Mahony shooting 22 goals.

The division three game saw Cobden register a 31-16 win.

Mia McVilly, Charlotte Meade and Courtney Gatens were best for Cobden, with Maggie Conheady scoring 15 goals and Eisha Howard 14.

Terang Mortlake was too strong in the 17 and under netball, winning 65-14.

Best for Cobden were Marley Howard, Matilda Narik and Hannah Robertson, with Howard shooting eight goals.
