“Ryley really flushed it; it always looked like it was going straight through,” Terang Mortlake coach Lewy Taylor said of Hutchins’ 50 metre kick on the run.

But with still a couple of minutes to play, Terang Mortlake had to work hard to preserve their small lead.

“It was a desperate effort to finish by the boys but they did everything right to make sure we got the win.”

There was plenty for Taylor to like about the way the Bloods performed.

“We played a pretty good brand of footy, thought we were outstanding for three out of the four quarters.” he said.

Taylor was full of praise for Will and Alex Moloney.

“Will was fantastic, had a huge role on Sam Dobson and did a great job. Just the usual quality game from Alex, always reliable,” he said.

Darcy Hobbs was also in the best for the Bloods, Taylor adding that his ruckman was a driving force all over the ground.

“But it was a genuine team effort where everyone played their role. Our young players were outstanding again, they are all standing up and showing they belong.”

Tipperary Gaelic football recruit Liam Casey made his senior debut for the Bloods in the win.

“Liam kicked a nice goal, competed well, he had a crack. He showed enough signs that he could be a really good player for us,” Taylor said.
