Big effort from Power
KOLORA Noorat almost pulled off the most stunning of turnarounds on Saturday, narrowly losing to Russells Creek 9-18-72 to 10-9-69 at Mack Oval.

Round 18 of 2024, the previous meeting between the clubs, saw Russells Creek thump the Power to the tune of 139 points.
“We went in thinking we were a good chance,” Power coach Sam Uwland said.
“Things we are working on are going well, we prepared well for this game.”
The Power went into the final break with a 15-point lead.
A tense last quarter ensued, Russells Creek getting to within a point.
The Kangaroos hit the lead with two behinds, before Kolora Noorat levelled the scores with a behind of their own.
Russells Creek kept attacking, scoring a further three behinds to win by that margin.
“It was disappointing to get so close and not get the win,” lamented Uwland.
“But looking at it there were so many positives to come out of the game.
“We felt we outplayed their midfield for most of the game.”
Uwland was happy to give credit to Louis Cahill, named best on ground, for his performance.
“He’s just a contested bull in the midfield, does a lot of grunt work and feeds it out to our young runners brilliantly.”
Russells Creek won the reserves comfortably, 11-6-72 to 4-2-26.
Mitchell Wyss and Tyler Friswell were best for the Power.
It was a 27 point win to Russells Creek in the under 18s, 8-12-60 to 5-3-33.

It was a tough day out for the Power under 12s, losing 15-10-100 to 0-2-2, with Braxton Sachs and Jack Menz named as best.
Kolora Noorat secured its first victory in A grade netball for the 2025 season with a 41-38 win over Russells Creek.
“It was just good to get a win and a reward for all the effort we've put in,” a pleased Power coach Lillie Bourke said.
It was a tight contest throughout, with the margin never greater than four goals.
“We’re a new team, new faces, still working to put it all together,” Bourke said.
Bourke praised Renae Reynolds and Rose Beasley for their games, adding both are consistent performers.
Under 17 goal shooter Matilda Curran led the way with 27 goals.
“Matilda is in really good form, she is very versatile and has a big future,” she said.
Bourke herself was named best for the Power in the win.
