Bargains galore for Darlington
DARLINGTON was alive with activity last Saturday, with residents opening up their yards for a town-wide garage sale.

The sale saw five homes open up to the public for sales, including two car boot sales in the carpark of the Elephant Bridge Hotel and a sausage sizzle run by the Darlington Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigade.
Organiser Ange McQuade said she was pleased with attendance, with a number of people browsing the wares at the various sale points.
“On behalf of Darlington, we would like to thank the community for travelling out to be a part of our town garage sale and CFA fundraiser,” she said.
“Our fundraiser was a great success, with $265 raised from the sausage sizzle and thanks to Eve Sell for donating a beautiful raffle – won by Peter Dollimore – raising $108 for the local brigade.
“Between the households who held garage sales and the stall holders at the pub, we had a great day with plenty of bargains.
“The live music was a lovely touch and made for a very relaxed and great atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
“Next year, we would love to see even more stall holders and car boot sales at the hotel, but all around it was a great day.”
