Banking safely in a digital world
RESIDENTS had the opportunity to learn more about how to keep their finances safe in a digital world thanks to an information session run by Corangamite Shire Council and the Bendigo Bank.

Bendigo Bank’s Brodie Love and Tarkin Love spoke at the Banking IT Safety session held on Wednesday, which saw 15 people in attendance.
The pair spoke about the digital world and the increasing need to have digital banking and payment methods, which included the increase of contactless payment and digital wallets.
As part of the overall ‘Stop Think Protect’ message, the types of scams people can fall victim to were discussed.
Residents were also shown various scenarios to learn how to spot the red flags of common scams such as investment, phishing and romance scams.
Tarkin also shared the ways digital banking can help to respond to and prevent scams, with residents also left with a variety of ways to protect themselves from scammers.
The session ended with a question and answer session, which covered topics discussed during the session as well as the importance of computer security systems.
Residents were also encouraged to visit Scamwatch to learn more about scams, with the site also allowing for people to report scams.
