Auxiliary celebrates fundraising efforts
CAMPERDOWN Hospital Auxiliary is looking back on another successful year of fundraising, raising a total of $33,600 towards the Camperdown Hospital and the Leura Aged Care facility.

The auxiliary held its annual general meeting on Wednesday night, with a strong showing from auxiliary members, South West Healthcare representatives and Leura Aged Care representatives.
Auxiliary president Ian Currell said the meeting was held at the new aged care facility and was followed by a tour to view where their donation to the facility was spent.
“I spoke to the group about how we’d raised money in the last 12 months with holding our annual art show,” he said.
“I also spoke about how, in the last 12 months, we’ve donated $33,600 with help from the Ritchies Community Benefits card as well.
“We’ve had several years of raising money to go towards more expensive equipment at the hospital through our art show as well as helping out as an auxiliary at festivals.
“We have 16 members as well as a very active family and partner group, so we always have plenty of people on hand to help out.
“We’re looking at new ways to raise money in the next 12 months.”
Donations made by the auxiliary included $15,200 towards a new tourniquet stand and accessories for the hospital theatre, as well as $18,400 to furnish and equip two rooms at Leura Aged Care.
Mr Currell said auxiliary members were proud to be able to donate large amounts to support the hospital
“It goes to show how we get fantastic support from the community who come along to our shows and support us, knowing the money goes to our local hospital,” he said.
“A lot of the money we have raised has gone towards improving the maternity ward – since we’ve achieved improvements there, more recently we’ve shifted to the equipment for the theatre because our local theatre is being used by visiting doctors.
“It helps maintain the standard of care at the hospital.”
