Assistant principal steps up at Camperdown College

LONG-TIME Camperdown College staff member Vicki Angus will be taking the helm at as the school’s new principal from next term.

Ms Angus has served as a classroom teacher, a Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) leader and most recently assistant principal at the senior campus on Wilson Street.

She said she is “very honoured and excited” to be stepping into the role of principal.

“My decision to apply for the principal position was deeply personal – driven not only by a long-standing commitment to our college but by an unwavering belief in its potential and a genuine desire to lead it into a future marked by high aspirations for all and strong community connections,” she said.

“I take immense pride in the journey we’ve shared, the achievements we’ve worked hard for and the culture of care and excellence we continue to build.

“I have always regarded this college as more than a workplace – it is a community I care deeply for and a place I feel privileged to serve.

“I look forward to working in continued partnership with our dedicated staff, students, families and wider community as we strive for excellence in all that we do.

“Together, we will build upon the strong foundations already in place, strengthen our culture of high expectations and inclusivity and ensure that every student is valued and supported to thrive.”

Ms Angus has served as acting principal on four occasions, including during the transition period into the role following the departure of previous principal Xavier Davis last year.

She said she had gained valuable insights into school leadership through serving as acting principal.

“Although I have previously chosen to remain in roles that allowed me to maintain direct teaching responsibilities whilst leading, I felt compelled to apply for the principal role for the first time,” she said.

“My application was motivated and driven by the understanding of how vital effective principal leadership is to sustain a strong school culture.

“I believe I am a leader who understands the college context, has earned its trust, can provide steady, strategic direction and a clear, student-centred vision for improvement.”

Ms Angus said she was looking forward to working with staff, students, families and the wider community into the future.

“My immediate focus will be to listen, to learn, and to lead with purpose, ensuring that our collective voice shapes the path ahead especially with our college review taking place in early 2026,” she said.

“I am committed to maintaining open and respectful communication, upholding high standards of teaching and learning and championing a safe, supportive and ambitious environment for every member of our college community.

“I am excited about the journey ahead and proud to be leading Camperdown College into its next chapter.”
