Anzac Day ceremonies will be held across the region on Friday, April 25.

Among the services hosted will be the traditional Dawn Service in Port Campbell, held at 6am at the Soldiers Memorial at 2 Lord Street.

In Timboon there will be a march and service from 8am at the Soldiers Memorial, at the Power Creek Reserve.

The marchers will gather at the Timboon Senior Citizens Centre from 7.50am.

In Cobden a service will be held at 11am at the Cobden, Cenotaph on the corner of Silvester and Victoria Street.

Camperdown Returned and Services League sub-branch member Ron Greagen said it would be a busy week in Cobden in the lead up the Anzac Day service, with a number of events planned.

“Cobden Technical School are doing a flag raising ceremony at the Cobden cemetery,” he said.

“Cobden Primary School will host a service on the Thursday across the road at the War memorial.

“It’s good for the kids because they get to be aware of what it’s all about.”

Mr Greagen has been selling Anzac Day badges in Cobden during the lead-up to the national day of commemoration, which he said had been well supported by the community.

“It’s been going pretty good, people are very generous,” he said.

“I’ve been selling them in front of Ritchies IGA Supermarket Cobden and has done pretty well out of it.

“Ritchies IGA have been very good to us – they’ve let us sit out the front every year and I will be there up until the day before Anzac Day.”

Mr Greagen said he hoped to see services across the region well attended.

“I would hope people will turn up and support he veterans and people who died ,” he said.

“A lot of people died serving their country, and their sacrifice has helped to turn this country in to what it is today.”
