Action and adventure in Pombo
POMBORNEIT became a land of fantasy and magic this week for the annual Swordcraft event, which saw strong crowds dressed as knights, mages, warriors and more.

Swordcraft is Australia’s largest medieval battle game and live action roleplay (LARP) event, with players from across Australia attending the event this week.
Advertising manager Lou Harwood said this year’s event has been good, despite the weather challenges dampening even the fierier spirits.
“It’s definitely been one of the more weather-challenged weeks we’ve had for a while, but it’s all in the spirit of it really,” she said.
“Everyone’s doing their best to adapt where we can. It’s been very wet and windy, but we’ll make it through for sure.
“I think it’s getting bigger and better.
“We’ve got a fantastic team behind it – both on the event management side but also on the story team side.
“Everyone’s just outdone themselves on the amount of work they’ve done this year.”
Players have engaged in a variety of themed activities, from buying wares in the township of Sudenburg to exploring the outer wilds for resources while fending off bandits.
“We’ve had a few battles – some fort battles, some battles out in the old town where it’s a bit more of a wilderness, and there’s been a lot of skirmishes and battles in town as well,” Ms Harwood said.
“There’re also some plots going on – secret plots for players to unveil and find little clues for, trading missions, magic ceremonies happening all the time and all sorts of other things going on.
“We just hope for everyone to keep having fun and make it an even better quest than the year before.”
