A little town with a big history of generosity
GARVOC raised just shy of $50,000 for this year’s Good Friday Appeal, shattering its previous record.

The small town’s generosity for the cause is proudly on display each year, but this year leapt to new heights as the community officially donated $48,979.
The figure smashed last year’s total of $36,109 – a then-record – continuing the trend of Garvoc being among the state’s most prolific pound-for-pound Good Friday Appeal fundraisers.
For comparison, Garvoc raised half of what Warrnambool raised ($99,419) despite having less than one per cent of Warrnambool’s population.
Garvoc’s tally was also a quarter of Geelong’s tally despite boasting less than 0.1 per cent of Geelong’s population.
Much of the funding was raised through Garvoc’s annual Good Friday Goods and Services Auction, which this year had 128 auction items listed, and included further produce such as pavlovas and slices which totalled around another 50 items.
“It’s just amazing how much money it makes,” Good Friday Appeal Garvoc area manager Cate Kelly said.
“The auction raised just over $23,000, which is a really good effort.
“It was well attended by locals and new people to the community, and it was great to see lots of kids having fun.
“Jack Kelly and Tim Healy again did a good job with their charismatic auctioning and the donations were well appreciated from our country businesses.
“We can’t thank them enough because without them we don’t have a function at all.”
