MORE than 80 runners and walkers pounded the pavement in glorious sunshine on Sunday for the return of the Lake 2 Lake Fun Run.

Taking on a four or eight-kilometre course setting out from near the Camperdown Golf Club and tracking up the hill and around the north side of Lake Bullen Merri, participants did their bit to promote good health and raise funds for Timboon and District Healthcare Service.

Co-ordinator and Mercy Regional College teacher Stacey Hillman said organisers were pleased with how the fun run went.

“The event was really successful; the Year 12s (who helped organise it) were fantastic,” she said.

“We raised about $900, which is really good.

“We had a barbecue and milkshakes, ice creams and drinks, as well as a raffle.”

Warrnambool’s Tom Hynes took out the Lake 2 Lake Fun Run eight-kilometre run with a time of 28:48.

Warrnambool Year 12 student Tom Hynes was overall winner, taking out the 8km race with a time of 28 minutes and 48 seconds.

“It’s an eight-kilometre course, but it’s really hilly and it was actually quite hot when they ran,” Ms Hillman said.

“Tom’s a member of the Warrnambool Athletics Club and he won the Koroit-Warrnambool half-marathon a couple of weeks ago.

“He’s a really great runner and it was great he came all the way from Warrnambool for the race.”

Ms Hillman thanked all the fun run’s sponsors for their support of the event.
