Derrinallum junior golfer Josh Anderson competed at last month’s School Sport Victoria Senior Secondary Golf State Final.

DERRINALLUM P-12 College student Josh Anderson teed off in an impressive performance at the 2015 Senior Secondary School Golf State Final recently.

He finished 37th at the competition, which was held at Churchill Park in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs.

It was the third time Josh had been through to state level with his golf, qualifying through the Greater Western Region final at Ararat’s Chalambar Golf Club.

Players at the event played with a handicap between plus three and 23.

Josh hit 90 off the stick and, with his handicap of 10, had a nett score of 80, putting him eight shots behind the overall winner.

Daniel Kenna from Mercy Regional College and Lachie Meade from Terang College also competed at the event.

Derrinallum College sports co-ordinator Russell Moyle said Josh performed well against a field of 56 of the state’s best senior secondary school students at the May 11 event.

“He’s in Year 12 this year, but this is actually the third year he’s been through to state level, which is fantastic,” Mr Moyle said.

The Junior Secondary School and Primary School Golf state finals will be contested later in the year.
